Otra entrevista con la actriz hablando de la salida de Lana de la serie
Kristin Kreuk: 'Lana Is Gone For Good'
After spending seven years in one evildoers clutches or another, Kristin Kreuk took some time off from "Smallville" to pursue other interests. Namely creating her very own philanthropic organization called Girls By Design, a social networking site that aims to empower teens and give them an outlet for their creativity. As for Kristin it turns out that she couldn't resist coming back to play Lana Lang, Clark Kent's childhood sweetheart, one last time and wrap up her storyline once and for all. But will fans like how everything plays out, and is Lana really going to die? Read on to find out!
PopWrap: I know fans were thrilled you decided to come back, albeit for a short time, was it equally exciting for you to return?
Kristin Kreuk: I left during the strike so it was strange parting -- coming back was really lovely. As was getting to take a storyline from beginning to end. In a five episode arc, I could see the beginning, middle and end of Lana's journey and I could reach greater depth with it. We collectively found a way to make Lana's parting really amazing and it was such a wonderful experience for me and "Smallville" hasn't been that from the start. I came into this at 18, I've grown a lot.
PW: Did you have any idea when you first started that the show would have this kind of longevity?
Kristin: I had no concept of what 8 years meant -- what's 8 years to an 18-year-old? It made no sense to me, I was just along for the ride. Now I know what a seven year commitment is.
PW: Did you have any say in what happened to Lana since returning was entirely up to you?
Kristin: I definitely did. I wanted there to be a confidence and contentedness of where she was in her life and the feeling that Clark is not the end all, be all. The writers had a very different viewpoint in certain areas, but we were both coming from a strong sense of self. She's gone through experiences in her life which have solidified her trust in herself and that she can be OK without Clark. In fact, they both might be better off without one another. What the writers came up with was really interesting and surprising.
PW: Is this the end for Lana?
Kristin: This is pretty much the last we will see of Lana. It doesn't mean she couldn't possibly be around, but when the episode air, it's fairly definitive. Unless a miracle occurs, she's left. I think it was really important that fans weren't left hanging as to whether or not she'd be back.
PW: So does that mean Lana dies, or does some sort of otherworldly "only in Smallville" event occur?
Kristin: I don't want to ruin it, but I would go with option number two if I were to bet on it.
